Nine brave fundraisers walked across hot coals to bring in cash for Age Concern Dacorum.

Among them was the charity’s community fundraiser Michelle Law and together they are expected to have raised around £2,000.

Michelle said: “It was absolutely brilliant. We had a talk beforehand about how it is possible to do it and to get us all in the zone. Then we went straight outside and there were quite a lot of spectators around.

“One at a time we walked across and it was just amazing. We all felt so exhilarated afterwards.”

The cash will be focused on helping to keep the elderly warm in their homes this winter.

Last Thursday evening was the first time the charity has hosted a fire walk, which was held at Riverside Shopping Centre in Hemel Hempstead, and already a bigger event is being planned for next year.

Age Concern Dacorum’s next fundraising event is a carol concert, featuring three choirs, on Tuesday, December 11, at St John’s Church in Boxmoor from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased on the night or in advance by calling the charity on 01442 259049.
