Six Dacorum charities will benefit financially from the enormous success of last month’s BerkoFest.

Charlie Hussey, the co-founder of Berkhamsted’s inaugural music and comedy festival, said: “Thanks to the Herculean efforts of the BerkoFest team of volunteers not only did 3,500 people have a fantastic, magical and happy day but also £15,000 was raised for local community causes.”

The beneficiaries are The Hospice of St Francis, Swan Community Centre, Berkhamsted Cricket Club, Berkhamsted Raiders FC and the town’s Rotary and Lions clubs.

Senior community fundraiser Fran Martin said: “Thank you to BerkoFest for making The Hospice of St Francis one of the beneficiary charities and to our 30 lovely hospice volunteers who gave up their time to help out on the day. We were delighted to be part of such an amazing local event.”

BerkoFest has been nominated in four different categories in this year’s UK Festival Awards.

Voting is live now and will run until Wednesday, October 31 at www.festivalawards.com/vote.
