TRING area companies are finding new ways to help raise money for good causes – and make a living themselves.
Ploink.co.uk, based in Lakeside, has revamped its website and welcomed its first guest match-funding provider, an organisation called CardSave Community.
CardSave Community has promised to match £250 donated during the month to The Nathan Timothy Foundation, which supports children who may be being bullied, lacking in confidence or have low self-esteem.
The development comes hard on the heels of the Gazette reporting that Aldbury-based Golden Giving signs up sponsors to pay for running costs, meaning no loss of charity donations.
So far some 50 charities have signed up with Golden Giving and the company is looking for more sponsors.
Marc Simpson, Ploink’s founder said: “With the site’s recent re-launch, we felt it was the perfect time to offer companies a fun and effective way of exercising their Corporate Social Responsibility.
“And with over 450 charities and hundreds of people using the site to give small, affordable donations to their favourite charities, it’s also a wonderful opportunity for the companies to get positive exposure.”
John Quinn, the Nathan Timothy Foundation’s Director of Engagement said: “Ploink is a fantastic idea, encouraging the public to give small donations to charity. For small charities like us, giving small change can make a big difference!
“More importantly, Ploink reminds us all that it’s the act of giving that counts! And this is why we love Ploink!”
