A woman who sang and danced her way through life has passed away at the age of 95.
Gertie Price, of Scatterdells Park, Chipperfield, was a member of the Hemel Hempstead Theatre Company, formerly the Hemel Hempstead Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society.
Her eldest son Frank Price said: “The operatic society was a huge part of her life and she loved every moment of it. She appeared in her last show aged 90 years old.
“Deciding that she could no longer make an entrance and exit without a helping hand, she chose to support her fellow players as a member of the audience.”
The mother, grandmother and great-grandmother received her 50 year long service medal from the theatre group two weeks before passing away after a short illness at Watford General Hospital.
Gertie’s funeral will be held at midday on Monday at Our Lady, Mother of the Saviour RC Church in Chipperfield. Family flowers only are requested with donations instead to the NSPCC or Cancer Research UK.
