A charity boss has urged people to keep giving to good causes after a report revealed fewer of us are digging deep.
Community Action Dacorum’s (CAD) chief executive has spoken out after a national survey revealed that donations to charity fell by 20 per cent in real terms during 2011/12.
The public gave £1.7 billion less than the previous year.
Mark Mitchell of Hemel Hempstead’s CAD said: “At a time of increased demand for services delivered by local charities and with the pressures on public service budgets, donations from the public are a vital source of support.
“This is the case for the well-known local charities and even more so for those who don’t receive the profile and publicity.
“We encourage local residents to put the Back Britain’s Charities campaign into practice in supporting local good causes.”
