THE landlord of a Grovehill pub has spoken of the community’s ‘shock and disgust’ following a violent attack on a couple in their 60s.
Sean Kelly, landlord of the Greenacres II in Henry Wells Square, says people need to rally round after Christine Fordham and Joseph Burke were punched, kicked and robbed by thugs at their home in Dunlin Road.
“The community does need to pull together,” Sean said. “It’s important for people to rally round the victims of crime in the area. People are very shocked and thoroughly disgusted. How could people do that much damage to senior citizens for a few quid?”
Christine suffered bruising to her face and needed 10 stitches to a head wound while Joseph sustained a broken cheekbone and bruising to his head and chest in what police believe was a targeted attack on December 16.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact the non emergency number quoting reference D1/11/8580.
