Staff at the Hemel Hempstead branch of music and films retailer HMV were staying tight lipped this morning (Tuesday) after the company was reported to be entering administration.
The shop, at the Riverside Centre, was open and trading but had a handwritten sign in the window saying it could not accept vouchers or make exchanges of goods.
Two members of staff opened the shop at 9am but neither of them wished to comment to the Gazette.
The company has 238 stores around the country, employing around 4,200 people.
HMV intends to appoint administrators at City firm Deloitte which will attempt to find buyers for the business.
The news follows only days after the closure of photographic store Jessops, in Marlowes.
