Fingers will be on buzzers at the Civic Centre to raise money for Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care.
Mayor of Dacorum Bert Chapman is hosting a quiz night on Friday, February 22, at the Hemel Hempstead home of the council to raise money for the hospice, which is his chosen charity during his year in office.
Teams of eight will compete to be crowned Dacorum’s best quizzers and all the money raised will be added to the £10,000 Mr Chapman has raised so far during his term as mayor.
“When I was the mayor in 2000 I got an understanding of what the hospice does in our borough and I just felt that when people are really in need of help, you need someone you can always call on,” he said. “Since I’ve become mayor, people have come up to me to tell me about how much Iain Rennie helped them when their husband or wife died. It’s so important that they support families as well.
“The public have been very supportive so far and we want to carry on supporting them so they can carry on the good work they do. I just want to raise money for them and raise awareness. None of us will know when we will need it their help.
“The more money I can raise in my last four or five months as mayor the better.
“It’s a big thank you to everything they do and all the volunteers.”
