Waterways charity ReachOut Plus has been chosen to run a newly-refurbished boat designed to accommodate wheelchair-users.
The Jubilee boat, donated by disability charity Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation, will give disabled people and their families a chance to holiday along the Grand Union, with or without the aid of a skipper.
Jan Podsiadly of QEF said: “We needed someone reliable and understanding of the industry, who really wanted to do all the charitable things we require and most of all, keep the Jubilee afloat.
“ReachOut Plus seemed like the right charity to do this because they had the right intentions.”
Nash Mills waterways manager Alan Peddar said he hopes the first holidays on the boat will take place by Easter.
Half-term Pancake Cruises also run from February 18-22, costing £10 for adults and £5 for children. It includes two pancakes per person. The four-hour trips start at 10am.
