The sudden death of a young man who collapsed while working out and later died was down to natural causes, an inquest heard.
Security officer Damien Woods, 25, of Strandburgh Place in Northend, Hemel Hempstead, collapsed while at the Olympian Gym, which is used by glamour model turned body-builder Jodie Marsh.
He was rushed to Watford General Hospital where doctors were unable to revive him on November 20.
Damien, who had served in the Army for around five years, visited the Marlowes gym on average five times a week.
A statement from his aunt, read out during the inquest on Thursday, revealed that he had been concerned about a tingling feeling in his fingers and an irregular heartbeat.
Herts deputy coroner Graham Danbury said that a specialist assessment of Damien’s heart, following a post-mortem examination, revealed he had died from arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, which he described as a ‘not uncommon’ condition that causes irregular heart rhythms.
