PUNTERS are being urged to watch out for eateries that do not display new hygiene scores that come into effect from the end of January.

All the borough’s 1,399 restaurants, pubs and cafes have been rated from one to five for cleanliness but they are not obliged to display the certificate.

A full meeting of Dacorum Borough Council heard it could become mandatory because ‘those who score less than five may be less inclined to display it’.

Councillor Neil Harden, cabinet chief for regulatory services, said: “If the food outlet doesn’t show it on their windows you should have concerns about that establishment.”
