A charity which supports families struggling to cope with bringing up young children has been chosen as a main beneficiary of a supermarket’s Community Matters campaign.

The Berkhamsted branch of Waitrose encouraged shoppers to deposit green tokens into a pot for one of three local charities, selected each month.

Home-Start Dacorum received the most tokens and was presented with a cheque for £882 on Thursday, February 21 at the Berkhamsted branch.

Diane Young of Home-Start Dacorum said: “We were delighted to be chosen as one of Waitrose’s Community Matters charities, especially as 2013 is our 30th anniversary.

“The money will be used to support families in the local area, as well as to recruit and train volunteers as we are always on the lookout for more.”
