A plan has been drawn up to give home owners financial help to improve their properties.
It means Dacorum Borough Council will be able to give loans so that those most in need can repair, improve and adapt their homes.
The policy aims to improve the borough’s living conditions and funding will comes from existing capital budgets and central government grants.
Where grants are given conditions will apply so that, in many cases, the money or part of it will be paid back when the property is sold. The loans will be available with interest and interest free options.
The draft housing assistance policy has been signed off by the council’s cabinet but will now have to be agreed by full council.
