Mankini Phil wants to claim camel record

The man who ran the Berkhamsted Half Marathon in a mankini now hopes to set a new world record – by running the London Marathon as a pantomime camel.

Phil Robbins, 33, of Highfield Road, Berkhamsted, will take on the challenge with friend Matt Hearne, who lives in central London.

The record speed for running that distance in a two-person suit was set last year at 4hrs 49mins.

The camel suit is a nod to the tent Phil and Matt shared during 150-mile Sahara Desert race the Marathon des Sables in 2011.

Phil, pictured above, said: “We’ve both got marathon personal bests of around the 3h 15m mark, so anything could happen.”
