A personal trainer has set himself the challenge of doing 1,000 burpees with the hope he will raise £1,000 for charity.
Rich Tabor, who works at The Fitness Society in Berkhamsted, will be sweating it out for local anti-knife crime charity Billy’s Wish on Friday, April 26 at 3pm.
Rich said: “All the fundraising The Fitness Society does goes to Billy’s Wish, and a lot of people at the gym knew Billy too. I think it’s quite a realistic fundraising target.”
Billy’s Wish was set up by the father of 21-year-old Billy Dove, who was stabbed and killed in Hemel Hempstead town centre in November 2011.
Rich has been training in preparation for the challenge, which will be held in the gym’s studio, and admitted it has been tough.
He said: “I managed 500 burpees in 50 minutes the other day, and that was hard. I think it’s the repetition.”
A burpee is a strength training exercise which involves a squat followed by a full press up.
Donations can be made via The Fitness Society’s Facebook page, or by giving directly to the charity box which is situated at The Fitness Society reception.
