The full list of candidates standing in the Herts County Council election on Thursday, May 2 has now been confirmed.
Polling cards have been issued to households across the borough, which give details of polling station addresses and opening times.
Those who want to vote but have not received a card should contact Dacorum Borough Council’s electorial registration team on 01442 228071.
Wednesday, April 24 is the final date that people can apply for proxy votes.
Herts County Council is controlled by the Conservatives, with an overwhelming majority.
Of 77 members, 55 are Tories and the main opposition is provided by the Liberal Democrats, who can muster a group of 17 members.
Labour, who lost nine seats at the 2009 poll which saw the Tory group – which has been in overall control since 2001 – extend its influence with 13 gains, have three councillors.
There is one Green Party councillor and one English Democrat, but neither represent Dacorum wards.
As well as candidates representing the three main parties, every county ward is being contested next month by UKIP representatives, and there will also be a Green Party candidate standing in most Dacorum wards.
Chairman of the local branch Paul Harris, who lives in Gadebridge, said: “We are testing the water basically and seeing how we get on.
“I think the time is right because we have had county councillors elected in Watford, borough councillors elected in St Albans and we have had a recent increase in local members with younger people coming into the party.”
He said the party is hopeful of success in Hemel Hempstead Town and Berkhamsted where they have local well-known candidates vying for votes.
The widest choice is in the Hemel Hempstead Town ward, where the six-strong field includes Firasul Fouz who is standing under the banner of Trade Unionists and Socialists Against Cuts. He dubs himself as a campaigner for human rights, who campaigned against the genocide of the Tamils in Sri Lanka, and also an anti-cuts activist. The party is putting forward 13 candidates across Herts.

On the same day as the county poll, a by-election will be held in the rural Watling ward of Dacorum Borough Council following the resignation of Conservative David Lloyd.
Mr Lloyd, who is now Hertfordshire’s first police and crime commissioner, is still standing for re-election to Herts County Council in the Bridgewateer division but announced earlier this year that he would be standing down from borough duties to devote himself more fully to his new role.
The Watling ward includes the villages of Great Gaddesden, Flamstead and Markyate.
