A new era for Hemel Hempstead’s town centre market will be ushered in with a day of magic and celebration on Saturday.
The market’s newly appointed operator Saunders Markets says it hopes to make improvements with a new layout, standardised style of stalls and branded fleeces for all traders.
Spokesman Gary Saunders said: “Our plan is to create a market that is an asset to the town centre by improving its visual impact and recruiting traders who sell diverse and specialist products along with traditional items.”
There will be a feedback stall during the event, which runs from 11am to 4pm and will also feature a specialist food market near the food court, Mr Marvel the magician and face painting.
Anyone who spends £5 at a market stall will also be entered into a free prize draw.
Dacorum Borough councillor Terry Douris said: “The improvements we’re making to the market are part of our aim to attract more visitors and businesses to the town centre, making it a more vibrant place.”
