A nurse who helps young people change from children’s care to adult services has been shortlisted for a national award.
Transition nurse co-ordinator Debbie Kelly, who works for Hertfordshire Community Trust at Brindley Way, Hemel Hempstead, is currently co-ordinating the services for 40 young people who have complex health needs.
Debbie said: “When I heard I had been shortlisted I was really delighted. It is fantastic to be recognised, but more than that, I feel it is recognition for the Health Transitional Service.”
She has been shortlisted for the Pioneering Practice Nurse category at The Pioneers Of Care Award. The awards seek to make the public aware of how much selfless nursing work goes on behind the scenes.
The winners will each received a bursary of £500 for training and a ‘Pioneers of Care’ glass bowl and certificate that will be presented in London, on June 7.
