Popular Dacorum mayor Bert Chapman stepped down from the first citizen post last night after a year in office.
He made way for Councillor Penny Hearn, from Tring, to take up the prestigious position.
During his time in office, Mr Chapman has raised almost £18,000 for Rennie Grove Hospice Care, a good cause that provides at home care to patients suffering from terminal or life-limiting illnesses.
Mrs Hearn - a mother to three sons and grandmother to eight - has chosen to support the Pepper Foundation during her time as mayor. The foundation funds six children’s nurses and a family support team to help youngsters with terminal or life-limiting conditions. In 2013, the good cause hopes to expand its nursing team.
Councillor Allan Lawson was appointed deputy mayor for 2013/14 during the annual meeting.
