People in the public eye with county connections are backing a drive to find more foster parents.
The celeb squad includes inspirational Tring Paralympic athlete Martine Wright, who lost both legs in the 2005 London bombings but went on to represent Great Britain on the world stage last year.
They’re all lending their weight to the County Hall campaign to give children in need the chance to live within loving families.
Martine said: “It is vital that we all play our part in creating the world we wish to live in.
“Every child deserves the right start in life, and our community of foster carers creates stability and safety where vulnerability and uncertainty exists.
“Please sign up and help to improve the opportunity for those less fortunate than we are.”
Others backing the call are Childline founder Esther Rantzen, who was born in Berkhamsted, children’s authorJonathan Stroud, former Blue Peter presenter Diane Louise Jordan and actress Kacey Ainsworth, who plays Little Mo in EastEnders.
Kings Langley county concillor Richard Roberts, who also holds the children’s services portfolio at County Hall, said: “It is really important that we find local foster carers for Hertfordshire children, so that they can retain strong links with their schools and networks of friends wherever possible.
“If you would like to make a big difference to a child’s life, please come forward.
“We need foster carers across Hertfordshire who are passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and young people of all ages. Foster carers must have at least one spare bedroom in their home. In return, our carers are supported by supervising social workers and have ongoing training and support groups to attend.”
