A ceremony to unveil a plaque dedicated to murdered Billy Dove will be held at an adventure playground where funds raised in his memory have helped pay for new equipment.
All four of Dacorum’s adventure playgrounds, at Adeyfield, Chaulden, Grovehill and Bennetts End, have been given a cash injection thanks to the Billy Dove Memorial Fund.
In acknowledgement of the donation, each playground will display a plaque reading ‘Billy Dove – Truly Loved – Never Forgotten’.
At Adeyfield and Chaulden playgrounds the money was spent on disco lights, speakers and smoke machines, while at Grovehill the funds paid for a new skateboard ramp and Bennetts End has new laptops, printers, paper and ink that will be used during a homework club.
A plaque unveiling ceremony will be held at the Adeyfield playground in Turners Hill on Friday. Billy’s sister Lucy Taylor said: “We have been truly overwhelmed with the support our community has shown us since Billy was tragically taken from us.
“Knife crime is a big problem to solve but if we can do something to influence the young people of our community and to also give something back for the support they have shown us. If we can change just one young life, we have made a difference.
“We are using the funds wisely to get involved in local projects which will benefit young people. Billy was such a unique and special young man who is sorely missed and we are extremely proud to be able to do this in his memory.”
