Diane’s pony charity dive

A brave horse rider took a leap of faith out of a plane to raise more than £1,500 for the riding charity that helped her get back in the saddle.

Keen equestrienne Diane Needham, 39, was involved in a car accident five years ago, after which doctors said she would never ride again.

But after discovering the Riding for the Disabled Association in Great Gaddesden, she is no longer taking painkillers, is back playing sport and has regained her full range of movement.

Diane, who lives in Grovehill, used a special saddle to strengthen her back, and rode unaided for the first time two weeks ago. She now volunteers at the centre every Saturday.

She said: “It’s so rewarding, and it helps put life into perspective. The skydive is my way of saying thank you, and now I’m training to be an instructor.”
