A businessman has been given the green light to develop a plot of land behind his shop.
Richard Davies, who owns Parry’s newsagents in St John’s Road, Boxmoor, wants to build three two bedroom apartments facing Horsecroft Road.
The planning application was put before Dacorum Borough Council’s development control committee on Thursday evening after it had been called in by Councillor Neil Harden.
He told the meeting: “I support residents’ concerns that this development will bring parking over-spill onto the street.
“It will be the only apartment block on a street full of houses in a recognised character area.”
At first no councillors stepped forward to recommend the plan for either approval or refusal. But after prompting from the committee chairman Graham Sutton, a recommendation for approval was put forward and passed.
