Here’s a sneak peak at the blockbuster film Diana, which saw production crews descend on Hemel Hempstead for filming.
Movie makers came to town during the summer last year to shoot parts of the film based on Princess Diana’s life after her divorce from Prince Charles.
In one scene, shot in Adeyfield’s Queens Square, King Kong star Naomi Watts, who plays the ill-fated people’s princess, is seen getting into a chauffeur driven car while cheered on by crowds.
During filming, production trailers were parked up in the former ‘park and ride’ area of Gadebridge Park and scenes were also shot within the park.
Diana, directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, who is famous for his portrayal of the last days of Hitler in Downfall, is due to be released in September.
Dacorum is a favourite with film makers because it is close to London but offers picturesque locations like the Ashridge Estate where scenes for Harry Potter, Robin Hood, Son of Rambow and many more were shot. Historic Gaddesden Place is also regularly used as a backdrop for film, TV and photography work.
