Chiefs at fast food chicken chain KFC say they are staying put in Hemel Hempstead but have closed the shop temporarily for major refurbishment work.
In the meantime fans of the Marlowes convenience eatery have been asked to visit the next nearest restaurant in St Albans.
A spokesman for KFC said: “We have recently started a major refurbishment of our Hemel Hempstead restaurant, and work is expected to last for five weeks. “All staff are being deployed to other stores in the area and we would ask customers to visit our nearby restaurant in St Albans in the meantime.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, however we look forward to welcoming residents back into the new and improved restaurant when we reopen.”
The closure comes as it was revealed that a string of well known restaurant chains, including Nandos, has signed up to move in when Jarman Park’s LeisureWorld is refurbished.
