Firefighters had a busy weekend in Dacorum as the hot weather caused a number of minor blazes.
A crew from Berkhamsted was called at 10.35pm on Saturday to put out a 20-metre patch of grass that was on fire in Kiln Road, Hastoe, near Tring.
At just after midnight, firefighters were called in to action again to tackle a small car fire in Station Road, Tring.
On Sunday, when temperatures soared to around 30 degrees C, crews from Hemel Hempstead had to use a backpack sprayer to put out a grass fire near Squires Ride, Hemel Hempstead at around 12.30pm.
Then just after 2pm, the firefighters were called to put out an accidental fire on a car trailer at the side of the road in Fern Drive, Hemel Hempstead. The trailer was not attached to a vehicle, and a jet was used to tackle the blaze.
Firefighters were needed in Hemel Hempstead on Sunday evening at around 9.30pm when a bonfire in Birch Lane, Flaunden, got out of control.
A Herts Fire and Rescue Service Control spokesman said: “There have been lots of grass fires. Please take care in the countryside - fires can start very easily when it’s so warm and dry. Enjoy, but be careful.”
