A top award has been presented to Berkhamsted’s Oxfam bookshop for the most valuable donation sold in aid of a good cause.
A rare first edition of Samuel Beckett’s first novel Murphy raised £12,000 when sold at auction by Bonhams.
The special find was spotted among donations to the High Street shop by volunteer Geoff Smith.
Delighted shop manager Jane Hockings said: “We are fortunate enough to receive many interesting ad valuable donations but this was quite exceptional.”
The award was presented by the Charity Retail Association.
