A four-year-old girl who pledged to recycle toilet rolls and cardboard tubes at home won the chance to see the process in action.

Megan King of Nash Mills submitted her pledge at the Waste Aware stall during the Herts County Show, and beat hundreds of other entrants in the competition.

Megan was given the chance to tour the firm’s Cupid Green depot where materials are sorted, and sit in a recycling truck with dad Vince. She also won a certificate and a bespoke radio made of recycled metal.

Herts Waste Aware is running another competition throughout the summer in which two lucky winners will receive a Kindle Fire. Visit wasteaware.org.uk for more.
