A burglar who was given two chances to go straight has now been jailed for 30 months.
In March last year, John Butler, of Thriftfield, Highfield, admitted conspiracy to commit non-dwelling burglaries and asked for 89 offences to be taken into consideration. These included break-ins at shops and businesses up and down the country.
At St Albans Crown Court, Judge Andrew Bright QC heard Butler, 36, had shown a real desire to change and was being considered for a Choices and Consequences scheme.
He was given a 36-month community order but just a month later was arrested after stealing cable.
Judge Bright gave the crook another final chance and allowed to continue the community order.
But Butler was brought before the court for a third time on Friday after stealing cable from Water End in Hemel Hempstead last month.
This time he was jailed and Judge Bright said: “You only have yourself to blame.”
