The slip roads to and from the A41 at Hemel Hempstead have been closed as firefighters begin cutting a man from a vehicle after a road smash.
The smash was reported to police just after 11am – and just after midday, firefighters were called to a second collision – on the M1 – where people are expected to need to be cut free from vehicles.
Police spokesman Olivia Finucane said Hemel Hempstead’s Two Waters Road has been closed at the Featherbed Lane end while the first smash is dealt with.
A white Ford Ranger pick up truck and white Hyundai IX35 are reported to have been in collision on the nearby A41 slip road going towards Watford. Two fire engines rushed to the smash.
Just after midday a second smash was reported between Junctions 8 and 9 of the northbound M1. Two fire engines from St Albans rushed out to help the people involved.
UPDATE:
Police said they were called to Junction 8 of the M1 just before 11.50am following reports of a collision between a grey Ford Mondeo and a silver Toyota Yaris.
They closed two lanes of the M1 to allow firefighters to cut free a woman who was trapped in a car.
The motorway was fully reopened just after 2pm.
