Herts police officers involved in major operations over the last two years have been recognised for their hard work with an awards ceremony.
The event at police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City also recognised police staff and ordinary people.
Among the winners on the night was Insp George Holland, who lives in Berkhamsted but works in Hemel Hempstead.
He was commended for helping to deliver a bespoke local plan for the town during the Olympic torch relay, which fed into the county plan known as Operation Hellenic.
Insp Ian Grout, 44, of Hemel Hempstead, received two awards for policing work in Hatfield. He, too, was recognised for his part in policing the Olympic torch relay, and also won praise for Operation Devine, the Queen’s royal visit to Herts in 2012.
Chief constable Andy Bliss said: “The awards recognise occasions when police officers, staff and members of the public have acted in an outstandingly courageous or resourceful manner over and above what could have been expected.”
