A lightning strike on a Hemel Hempstead house sparked an electrical fault which caused it to flood.
The house in Clyde Square, Grovehill, was unoccupied at the time of the freak incident on Saturday, but neighbours alerted the fire service at 9.49pm.
The lightning bolt had struck the roof and was conducted through the aerial cable down into the house, which triggered the small flood, during stormy weather that evening. Fire crews from Hemel Hempstead assisted to make the site safe, but it did not cause any fire.
Crews had also been called to a domestic flooding in Fishery Lane less than two hours before, which had been caused by the heavy rainfall and was resolved by unblocking drains in front of the house.
