The Three Blackbirds took top honours at a charity football tournament and fun day held to raise money for Keech Hospice Care on Saturday.

Parents Danny Kerr and Sam Charles-Kerr organised the event for the second year running to say thanks to staff at the hospice who helped ensure the few precious days they spent with their newborn daughter Lexi before she passed away were extra special.

The fun day and football tournament – sponsored by Butlins and ESC Electrics – was held at Hemel Hempstead’s Cavendish School in Warners End Road and the community turned out in force to support the event.

“It was a very successful day,” said Sam. “It went brilliantly well.

“We haven’t got a total figure of what was raised but so far it is about £1,700.”

The Three Blackbirds were on song in the adult’s tournament, while the junior honours were taken by the Yellow Team.

Sam and Danny are now holding an online auction to raise even more cash for the cause.

Items will be sold on the Lexi Keech Charles-Kerr Facebook page, on a regular basis.
