A hospital for adults with mental health problems and other illnesses is expecting new findings from the Care Quality Commission after a damning report earlier in the year.

The Priory Grange facility in Felden, Hemel Hempstead, was inspected by the health and social care watchdog in March, and was found to be noncompliant in areas including how patients’ dignity was promoted, how their health needs were met and how staff were trained. The report also said: “We spoke with some of the people who used the service and most of them told us that they were not happy living at the hospital. A high number of the people said they would prefer to live somewhere else.”

Since the inspection, a new hospital director has taken over and the commission re-visited last week.

Spokesman Caroline Walker said: “Staff have worked exceptionally hard to address the issues the CQC has listed. We expect the outcome of the re-inspection very shortly.”
