A pilot neighbourhood improvement day in Hemel Hempstead was such a resounding success that council chiefs are planning to roll it out across Dacorum.
Locals in Woodhall Farm were invited to the Love Your Neighbourhood event where they got chance to speak face to face with council representatives, as well as police and fire officers – about any questions or concerns they may have.
An earlier consultation revealed certain problems neighbours were most unhappy with, such as fly-tipping and graffiti.
Before the afternoon activities got under way, officials went on a ward walk to inspect and resolve those problems raised by residents.
The rest of the day revolved around free activities such as face painting, a raffle, tombola and arts and crafts.
Gill Barber, who works in resident services at Dacorum Borough Council, said: “It was very successful, really well attended and we got some great feedback.
“It was really useful for both us and the residents, and we are hoping to roll this out across Dacorum.”
