A cognitive therapy club for dementia sufferers is being piloted in Tring to help make a positive difference for people living with the condition in the town.
Age UK Dacorum is setting up the COGS group to provide therapy and support for those with Alzheimer’s in the borough. According to statistics from Herts County Council, Dacorum has the lowest detection rate of the condition at just 28 per cent.
The charity’s Melanie Clarke is hoping to have the club, for up to 10 people at a time on the 14-week programme, up and running on September 9.
She said: “This is an exciting time for Age UK Dacorum starting an innovative club to help clients with dementia. Our aim is to have the funding to be able to set these clubs up in all areas of Dacorum.”
