Postmen will be making a special delivery to Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning in the form of 350 postcards supporting their campaign against privatisation.
Shoppers in the town centre on Saturday saw workers from the Home Counties North mail centre enlisting locals to sign the postcards, and the postmen were thrilled to see so much support.
Colin Ince, who works at the centre on Maylands Avenue and is a member of the Communication Workers Union, said: “It went absolutely superbly.
“We were really uplifted and felt really positive after seeing the fantastic support from the local people.”
“It was refreshing to hear their comments, and most of the public are absolutely against it.”
“We want MPs to listen to their constituents, and we’re just going to keep going and keep going. Hopefully we’ll win the day.”
Mr Ince said he thinks a lot of MPs are sitting on the fence over the situation, and are uncomfortable with the privatisation plans.
The team plans to hold more Save Our Royal Mail stalls in other towns nearby – starting with Watford next week.
