Friends of a scaffolder left in a coma after an horrific roof plunge will be rallying round his family at a fundraiser this weekend.

The charity bash at Adeyfield’s Jubilee pub on Saturday will raise money to help the partner and two-year-old daughter of Stewart Thomas, who is now in a stable condition at St Mary’s Hospital in London, where he is receiving expert specialist care after the 26-foot fall on Thursday last week. It is believed that he fell through as asbestos roof and is being treated for multiple injuries.

The fundraiser from noon at The Queen’s Square, Adeyfield pub is being organised by Reece Baker and Stewart’s other friends.

Reece said: “He is one of the blokes that puts a smile on everybody’s face. It is infectious and everybody gets on with him.

“He’s a nice, loveable bloke and will have a lot of support on the day.”

Reece and Stewart have known each other since they were about 15, when they met through their mutual interest in motorbikes. The pair are now in their early 30s.

Reece said: “He’s going to have a long road to recovery.”

There will be face-painting, a bouncy castle, cupcake stall, raffle with prizes including £100 in cash and a 42-inch TV and a DJ at The Jubilee’s fundraiser.

A one-week stay at a villa in Murcia, near the southern coast of Spain, will be auctioned off during the fundraiser.

You can buy raffle tickets from the pub and Hemel Hempstead’s Maylands Cafe.

For more information, phone Reece on 07535 718344.
