A Hemel Hempstead Domino’s Pizza store was a slice above the rest last week as company representatives from Europe, the Middle East and Africa visited the Maylands Avenue site.

The new Kier Park outlet is the fast food chain’s 2,000th European store, something franchisee Arshad Yashin is excited about.

He said: “I am delighted that my store has been chosen as the 2,000th European store, it is a great honour.

“My staff were very excited that so many people from Domino’s corporate team came to see them and made the day an eventful one. We wanted our customers to come and join in the fun and help us celebrate.”

The store on Hemel Hempstead’s industrial estate was decorated especially for the occasion on Thursday, and special promotions including personal pizzas for just £1 were on offer. The first 50 customers also received a pizza the action with a free order each.

Domino’s corporate charity Rays of Sunshine was also involved in the day’s events and brought along some of the wish children and their families, so they could learn how to make pizza. The store also offered a family pizza-making experience as a prize.

Domino’s vice president for Europe, Middle East and Asia Eric Anderson said: “We have been delivering hot, fresh pizza to customers since 1960 when the first Domino’s store opened in the USA. Since then the business has grown very successfully. To reach our 2,000th European store is a real achievement and we were very excited about coming to the UK to celebrate the day in style. We wanted to make it a special and memorable occasion for staff and customers alike.”
