A couple from Berkhamsted are still sparkling after 60 years together and have just celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Rita and Peter Gent marked six decades together at a party with family and friends at Berkhamsted Golf Club.
The pair married on August 8, 1953 and moved into their first home in Dellfield Close four months later – and they’re still living there now.
Peter met bride-to-be Rita while they were both working at the British Gas supplies office in Berkhamsted.
They went on to have two sons, Ian and Trevor, and two grandchildren – Emily, 25, and Nicholas, 22.
Rita, 79, said: “We’re really happy. We’re still speaking to each other after all these years!
Peter, 84, said: “It’s all about give and take.”
