THE good causes a supermarket will give cash to at the end of February have been announced.

Each month, every branch of Waitrose gets £1,000 to give to three good causes based nearby.

Each shopper then gets a token to drop into the box of the cause they support most. The amount each cause gets is based on votes.

Berkhamsted’s Waitrose shoppers can this month choose Ashridge Estate, Dacorum Heritage Trust, or the St Mary’s Church Restoration Appeal Fund, Studham.

Ashridge spokesman Kirsty Fairhead said: “Ashridge is 5,000 acres, free to enter and right on Berkhamsted’s doorstep – but we need to pay for conservation there.”

Dacorum Heritage Trust stores more than 106,000 historical objects from across the borough.

It takes them to schools and old people’s homes by appointment.

Spokesman Nina Glencross said: “We are preserving your history for the future, so vote for us.”
