Friends and family of a four year old with a life-limiting illness are appealing for a spectacular prize for their fundraising race night.

The October event in Boxmoor Hall is almost sold out, and some Dacorum businesses including Tahola, Sportspace and Specialist Cars Tring have already helped.

Organisers hope to raise £10,000 for the Lily Foundation on behalf of mitochondrial disease sufferer James Dodd, whose ‘batteries’ inside all of his cells don’t function properly.

Penny Blake, a close friend of James’ parents Iain and Angie, said: “We are trying to hit our goal of £10,000 towards research into a cure for mitochondrial disease.

“We have had so much support from Dacorum businesses already and we are now looking for a really spectacular prize to auction off on the race night.

The team have already cycled from London to Paris and will do so again on September 8. They have so far raised nearly three quarters of their target with £7,400.

Email racenight.tickets@yahoo.com for details on providing a prize, or {http://www.justgiving.com/stupidp/eurl.axd/d2c276377d7d104ea69b46943a6077af|click here} to donate to the cause.
