Royal Mail is celebrating a target-beating performance in the Hemel Hempstead postal area for the months of April and June.
More than 95 per cent of mail sent by first class stamps within the HP postcode were delivered the next day, beating the target of 93 per cent.
Nationally the government-owned service just exceeded the target with an overall performance of 93.4 per cent for getting first class-delivered mail to its destination on time.
The second class target was also beaten, with 99 per cent of mail delivered within three working days.
Delivery director Brett Thomas said this week: “It is excellent news that we have exceeded our targets for first and second class letters and parcels.
“We are committed to maintaining our high standards of service for all of our customers – consumers and businesses in rural areas as well as towns across the HP postcode area.”
Royal Mail is implementing a modernisation project to cope with the growing numbers of parcels and declining amount of letters being posted.
