A fire in the open involving 15 square metres of grass and rubbish was tackled by fire crews yesterday evening.
One hosereel was used to put out the flames in a field adjoining the former Nash Mills Methodist Church on Barnacres Road, Hemel Hempstead – the site on which pre-application plans suggest a new mosque and incorporated community centre could be built.
The emergency call was made at 4.57pm and the blaze was dealt with by 5.20pm.
