A charity that helps old folk has launched an internal investigation.
The probe involves Age UK Dacorum’s chief executive Aftia Ali-Khan, who is currently on long-term leave from the organisation.
Chairman of the charity branch Mike Moore said: “There are questions to be answered and at the moment we don’t know the answers.
“It is purely an internal matter.”
He said it is impossible to put a timescale on when the investigation, which is being supported by the charity’s central human resources department, will be concluded.
Mr Moore paid tribute to the staff and volunteers who are helping to ensure the charity’s services continue to be delivered to older people. “We are quite fortunate in that we have got a terrific branch of staff and volunteers,” he said.
