Free espresso served up to gaming fans who queued to snap up first copies of Grand Theft Auto V

A town centre coffee shop opened its doors late and served up free shots of espresso to gaming fans who were queuing nearby to snap up copies of the much anticipated Grand Theft Auto V.

Tiki in Marlowes closed at its normal time of 7pm on Monday but then reopened at 9.30pm.

Owner Amy Michie said: “There were quite a few people.

“It was simply a trial thing to see what happened. I thought it might be good fun.”

Gaming stores across the country opened at midnight to cash in on sales of the latest computer game, which is notorious for its violent content.

Game in Hemel Hempstead said almost 300 people turned out to purchase the game.
