Online retail giant Amazon has announced it will be hiring 1,000 seasonal staff at its Hemel Hempstead depot in the run up to Christmas.
In total, 15,000 temporary posts will be spread across the company’s eight distribution sites – including the one in Boundary Way – as well as its customer service centre.
Amazon, which currently has 6,000 permanent employees in the UK, hired 10,000 extra people in the run-up to the festive season last year. By the end of January, 1,000 of them were offered fixed roles.
Daniel Cheek joined Amazon’s Hemel Hempstead team when the site first opened in September last year. He is now a permanent shipping team leader. He said: “I’ve already been promoted and I look forward to moving my way up the career ladder.”
Prospective employees will be able to apply for the new roles online in the run up to Christmas.
