Royal Mail will recruit 600 temporary workers to Hemel Hempstead’s super centre in Maylands Avenue to help sort its Christmas mailbags.
The extra posts – available from this month through to January – will see the company through its busiest period.
Royal Mail’s Mark Higson said: “Christmas is the busiest time of the year for Royal Mail and we plan all year round to help ensure we deliver the best possible service to our customers.
“Every Christmas, we make a substantial financial commitment in additional resources to handle the festive mailbag, including the recruitment of thousands of temporary workers.”
Across the UK, 21,000 people will be taken on over Christmas, supporting the company’s 124,000 permanent postmen and women who sort and deliver mail all year round.
