An action group opposed to the development of Green Belt land at west Hemel Hempstead says it will not be daunted by the adoption of Dacorum’s core strategy.
The West Hemel Action Group says it will continue to fight the plans to build 900 homes on land between Chaulden and Pouchen End Lane and welcomes the support of political parties including Labour, UKIP and Conservative MP for the town Mike Penning.
Mr Penning met with the group on Sunday to update them on his plans to try and save the site, which included inviting Mark Prisk – then government housing minister – to meet with Dacorum Borough Council’s planning and regeneration officer James Doe about the potential to ‘trade off’ the LA3 plot for land close to the M1, which comes under St Albans district boundaries.
Action group chairman Lee Royal said: “While residents may think the battle was lost with Dacorum’s decision to adopt the Core Strategy we are very much still in the fight.”
