No new safety measures have been implemented at the junction where a 74-year-old woman died in a car accident 20 months ago.
Arthur Berry, 82, of Alderton Drive, Little Gaddesden, was driving the car at the time of the smash that caused the death of his wife, Geraldine.
Their vehicle had been pulling out of Pedley Hill onto the Hemel Hempstead Road when it was in collision with a car that was driving along it.
Mr Berry spoke to the Gazette last week after quashing his conviction for killing his wife through careless driving after an appeal that cost him £20,000.
Drivers pulling out of Pedley Hill face two blind bends on the A4146 – also known as Hemel Hempstead Road – where the speed limit is 60mph.
People who live nearby have long called for a lower speed limit on that part of the road or a mini-roundabout at the junction. The Gazette reported on their concerns just after Mrs Berry’s death.
Responsibility for the junction is split between Central Beds Council and Herts County Council.
Central Beds Council spokesman Anna Copperwheat said there have been just five recorded injuries caused by accidents at the junction in the last five years.
She said: “Cutting road traffic accidents is a priority of ours which we take very seriously.”
She said at the time of Mrs Berry’s death, the council worked with the police and thoroughly examined their report and the recent accident history of the junction.
She said: “It was found that no further action was needed at this particular location.”
